Sage \u2013 in Latin Salvia officinalis and its healing properties have been known since ancient times. Later, all monasteries cultivated it because it was considered one of the most healing plants. All of the above is proven by its Latin name, which dates back to Roman times, ie the term Salvia comes from the verb salvare, which in Latin means to save, to save. It can be found in the quotations of almost all ancient medical writers, but also in the annals of military leaders and kings. Of the sage, only the leaves are used, which are harvested during the flowering phase in May. The leaf of this plant contains over 2 percent of essential oil (it has an antiseptic effect), which is the essence of the positive effect of this plant, although it also contains vitamin A, iron, calcium and traces of other important compounds. Sage leaf is used in folk medicine for the treatment of pharyngitis, hoarseness, strengthening the body, colds, flu, etc.<\/p>\n
